About me.

I am based in Zurich since 2022. I moved to Zurich after I finished my BFA from Beaconhouse House National University (BNU) in Lahore in 2021 through UMISAA scholarship program. In October 2021 I was one of the twelve selected artists for the first round of Biennale College residency which was part of the 59th Venice Biennale curated by Cecilia Alemani in 2022. My works expands from drawing and painting to video and installation. I have shown both in solo and group exhibitions in international spaces like Kunst Museum Thun and local art spaces in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. Born in 1995 in Afghanistan and its modern and contemporary history have linked and shaped my work to international discourse on history, migration, culture and belonging: although living in exile is unseen in my work, but the fact being in exile has influenced my work can not be ignored as I constantly seek belonging in an empty space.
